During my long drive back to my family home in Cornwall for half-term, I started to think about the summer of 2009. I tried to recall what I had done last summer and it hit me hard when I realised that I simply couldn’t remember. How could I let another summer go by without doing something ‘significant’ and rewarding? And so my next 300 miles rolled by with thoughts of volunteering. I knew I had to make it happen!
My application has been accepted, my first training weekend is in Battersea next weekend, and soon I’ll hear which Continent wants me! I suspect I will be in either Bolivia, Swaziland, India or Sri Lanka, and most likely working within an educational programme in an orphanage.
Exciting times. I'll keep you posted.
