Belle Adventures

The canopy and the windbreak are done.

Let's just say that I doubt I'll ever work with a heavy-gauge, waxy canvas again!  I think the windbreak is a good result, but the canopy is a powerful and rigid bit of kit which I don't much like hanging off the gutter of Belle.  It is very heavy and a slight gust of wind makes the whole canopy fill like a steel sail.

So... to cut a long story short, if we don't want to end up taking off into the air when the wind gets up, I've decided to have another shot at making the canopy with a lighter-weight polycotton.  The design and colour-scheme, however, will be the same.  Some fabric samples are in the post and I'll make sure that I opt for something that will be far easier to work with.
We had a lovely Bank Holiday Weekend amid apple trees in Kent.  Belle, the VW, continues to delight us.  There really is something indescribably fun, simple and beautiful about batting about in a campervan.

The windmill has obviously become an essential on the packing list.

My Grandmother Ding's sunny tablecloth has found a fun new use.
Fresh coffee.  Fresh air.
