Sewing Machine, how I missed you!

All the fabric has been ordered and our next project for Belle, the VW camper, is a homemade sun canopy.

This picture was my attempt at sharing my vision.  We will use a 12oz waterproof cotton canvas, and a deckchair 'ticking' for the narrow pelmet.  It will be fun to see how it turns out and, more to the point, whether it weathers the English weather.
Next comes the little windbreaker, which will continue the theme.  We'll have to take a rain check on the weighting and any stretch in the two fabrics though before I fully commit to joining them in this manner, along the same vertical plane.  It would just be a bit rubbish if, over time, it came to distort because of a different give or take in the two canvases.

So I hope to find my creative sewing fingers again once I arrive in Cornwall tomorrow.  Somehow I feel that these projects will be easier than the curtains.  Am I being naïve?!  Only time will tell.  I will keep the Blog updated.
