Ouch

When do I want to Blog? When I have a story to tell? When I’ve realised something?

Well, I learnt a lesson today, as I put a chisel through my fingers. Three times.

“Don’t work with dangerous tools when you are tired. It is a stupid thing to do and you can hurt yourself a lot.”

It makes for an interesting touch-typing experience too. I have two fingers on my left hand extended out like scary salutes or zapping witches’ fingers, whilst the other three are nimbly stretching beneath them, picking up the extra workload.

So why the chisel-action in the first place? When and if my home is finally put right (once the madam upstairs fixes her sodding sewage and waste water leak into my home... eleven months now), they’ll be sanding back my floorboards and revarnishing them. And so I felt I better get a shifty on and fill the gaps in my floorboards before the work is carried out. Then it will eventually all look seamless and beautiful and sealed, not to mention a whole lot less drafty.

The Old Pine Company
came to my rescue and I bought one hundred 1 metre-long pine slivers which you glue into the gaps and tap down (they are wedge-shaped) until they are tight. Ingenious! And it has all worked wonderfully. That is until I got my hands on the chisel, which you need to make the slivers flush with the floorboards again.

Blinking back-breaking, nail-breaking men's work! I should have worn gloves. Hindsight sometimes infuriates me! It is so smug!
