Marking History on a Sunday

The children had to compare and contrast two Holbein portraits, one of Henry VIII and one of his son, Edward VI. It is quite a good bit of work to get the little ones to consider ways in which power and dominance are portrayed by, not only clothing and accessories, but also posture and expression.

I laughed out loud when I read in one book, "They both have big codpacks to show how impressive their manly hood is." She got an extra gold star for that!
