Birthday Company

It would be wrong to speak of Dad without mentioning Mum too.. she has been an angel.

There is no way I would have been able to properly cope over the last few days without some help.. and Mum arrived, unannounced, on Saturday night. She has kept me nourished with all the right things and she has been my dearest friend and companion, through earaches and chest pain and temperatures. Being so unwell, I doubt I would even have been able to boil a kettle.

Mum leaves tomorrow. My fridge is full of home-cosy food, my flat is sparkling and warm, I am feeling as though I have turned the corner, and I've had loving company close-by over my birthday. I know I am really lucky and this time has meant the world to me. I'm going to miss her.
